An Easy Aloo Gobi Recipe

Aloo Gobi is one of the most popular Indian dishes

Aloo Gobi, sometimes also Aloo Gobhi, is a vegetarian recipe, popoular in both the Indian and Pakistani cuisine. Main ingredients are potato cubes and cauliflower florets, which are cooked with several typical Indian spices before it is garnished with fresh cilantro. Aloo Gobi is delicious but simple recipe that you can serve at an Indian meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, finely sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cauliflower, divided into small florets
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon ground cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste

Directions

Heat the oil in a pan. Add in the cumin seeds and when the seeds start spluttering add the onion and cook for 2 minutes. Add in the turmeric, cayenne, ground cumin, cilantro and garam masala and mix well.

Add in the potato and cauliflower and mix well until the vegetables are coated with the spices. Reduce the heat to low, cover and cook. If you find the vegetables are sticking to the bottom of the pan, add in a few splashes of water. Keep cooking till the vegetables are done.

Tips
